Three swing counts, one chart

Workshop rooms often produce three legitimate swing counts. The skill is choosing one for the plan and naming why the others wait.

In a recent markup workshop, six traders marked the same Taiwan index futures daily chart. Three swing counts appeared: a tight series of minor swings, a medium structure used by most of the room, and one wide count that ignored several reactions.

None were “illegal”

Technical analysis allows nested swings. Trouble starts when a trader mixes counts mid-trade — entering on a minor break while sizing as if the wide count were in play.

What we required

Each participant wrote which count their plan would follow and which count they would ignore until broken. The wide-count trader had to accept fewer signals. The tight-count trader had to accept more stops. Clarity beat consensus.

If you practice alone, force the same written choice. Your chart plan needs one primary count; secondary counts can be noted as context, not as simultaneous entry rules.
